Microsoft: The Agent Management Play
Microsoft's strategy in the agentic enterprise war is not to build the best agents but to own the layer that governs all of them. Agent 365, generally available May 2026 at $15 per user per month, provides an agent registry, first-class agent identity through Entra Agent ID, Defender and Purview security integration, and lifecycle management across Microsoft and third-party platforms. This article examines the control plane thesis, the pricing model for the agentic era, and the platform lock-in question enterprise leaders must evaluate.
